"Neo-burlesque performer, dancer-choreographer and late-night mermaid Julie Atlas Muz is the busiest queen bee on the downtown scene. In the space of a New York week you can find her swimming in the Coral Room's aquarium, cohosting the riotous game show This or That at the Belt Theatre or delivering a theatrical number at the Va Va Voom Room, the Slipper Room or Galapagos. 'It has a kind of folk, punk-rock feeling,' Muz says of her act, which often combines comedy and performance art with classic striptease techniques. 'There's a lot of creativity and balls.' She's not kidding -- one of Muz's routines ends with her naked and standing on her head, an American flag protruding from her butt."
