This piece revists territory that is very familiar to Mr. Gondry: recursion and optical - rather than digital - effects. This video has strong connections to Being John Malkovich and Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind as well as countless other Gondry shorts and videos. And yet, despite the familiar subject matter, the director manages to create something visually stunning and profoundly original.
